Winemaker Notes
Critical Acclaim
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Veraison, which was brought up in 90% new French oak, is another complex, layered wine from this team. Ample dark fruits, damp earth, leafy herbs, and graphite aromas and flavors all emerge from this full-bodied, ultra-pure, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon that has the class to evolve gracefully for two decades.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Veraison charges out of the gate with bold, vibrant blackberry pie, redcurrant jelly and warm cassis scents plus nuances of dried Provence herbs, tilled soil, pencil lead, moss-covered bark and cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied, the palate features very impressive freshness and delineation with a firm, grainy texture and a racy line lifting the long finish.
Rating: 94+
Rating: 94+
This offers a streak of mountain herbs through ripe blackcurrants and red plums, leading to a forthright, assertively structured palate that brings a swathe of oak spice to close it out. Spicy, toasty aftertaste. Give this a little time to integrate. Try from 2020.
